Things are definitly bustling over here as we prepare our next issue to go to print. We have some amazing Real Weddings coming in this issue and some very exciting features as well – I can’t wait to get to share it with you all!
We’re also preparing for some special events over the next few weeks which will kick off this weekend at the Ultimate Women’s Show held at the Assiniboia Downs in Winnipeg. Your Wedding… Imagine and Canadian Homestead will both be present at the show, I hope you come down and check out our both. From what I hear, there is also going to be a prize giveaway at our booth that you won’t want to miss out on! We also have a two for one coupon you can print out – check out out side menu here on the site to get yours!
Before I leave you to get back to all this preparing, I wanted to share a gorgeous bit on inspiration that crossed my desk recently! Heather Lassell of Heather Lassell Photography shared this photo with me from a wedding she photographed recently. Due to allergies, the bride was unable to enjoy cake and so this wonderful couple opted for this stunning tower of truffles instead of a wedding cake. I am sure you will agree the end result is stunning and I bet the guests loved it to!

Don’t you love it? Now that I have you all drowling, I will sign off until next week when I will be back to tell you all about the Ultimate Women’s Show!
Until next time… Be Fabulous,

Winter Wedding in September?
Dear Diva,
I live in Winkler, MB and we are planning a September wedding. I have always wanted a winter themed wedding. Would it be weird or look funny to have a winter themed wedding in September?
L. Wiebe

What a great question! There are so many different ways to do a winter theme. It could be a red and green Christmas theme, a blue and silver snowflake theme, a gingerbread theme, etc. While those types of themes are traditionally seen over the winter months of November – February, there is absolutely no reason you can’t incorporate them into a wedding any time of the year!
Sometimes, a wedding theme is determined by the season, colors, etc. Other times, the theme is used to transport guests to a different time and/or place. In your case, you would then be aiming for that second type of theme. With careful planning, your guests can arrive at your wedding and enter into a unexpected magical winter wonderland, as if they had walked through a magical wardrobe into a whole new world. In fact, the contrast between the current season and your theme will work together to make your theme that much more unique and magical.
Be aware though that having a seasonal theme off-season may incur additional expenses and require careful planning as seasonal items will not be readily available. You can ease that a fair bit if you are planning early by picking up items you will want the winter before when they are affordable and plentiful. You may even be able to take advantage of post-season sales!
Will there be some friends, family members and/or vendors who think you’ve picked a weird theme? Probably. But one thing I have learned in my years of wedding planning is that no matter WHAT you pick – someone will disagree. So, if a winter themed wedding is the wedding you have always dreamed of, it is the wedding you should have whatever the month may be.
Be Fabulous,
