Boy meets girl – Nick and Mignon were at the Falcon Lake August long weekend social in 2002. They hit it off instantly. Mignon gave Nick her pager number, but “the unreliable thing broke the very next day.” Nick tried paging her, but she never got the page. That fall they saw each other at University nearly every day, and because Nick was angry that she had not called back, he and his friend would give her dirty stares. She finally got up the nerve to talk to Nick and tell him that she really did want to call him but that it’d been months and she didn’t think that he was even interested anymore. So they went out for Gelati and the rest is history.

On bended knee – Earlier in the day of the proposal Nick went to see Mignon’s father. Because Nick had been renting a condo from Mignon’s father that’s what he thought Nick wanted to see him about problems with the condo. When Nick asked if he could have Mignon’s hand in marriage, her dad was relieved that everything was alright and said Yes. Nick then went to see Mignon at work and he got down on one knee in front of her co-workers and proposed to her right then and there.

Fabulous details – Flowers for this Winnipeg wedding were provided by Whyteridge Academy Florist and were a simple and classic arrangement of Cymbidium Orchids and Dendrobium Orchids.

The Gates on Roblin offers great ambience and the staff make you feel like they are very happy that you are there. The food selection is amazing. They had a pineapple-teriyaki grilled chicken breast with roasted shitake mushrooms, garlic whipped potatoes and a medley of seasonal vegetables. Also available at the buffet was roasted prime rib au jus served with horseradish.

Cherished moment – Most memorable moment for Mignon was watching from inside the limo, outside the front doors of the church as Nick and Mignon’s father were walking together to the church, both looking every bit proud and excited for the upcoming event. That was THE moment for her that this day was really happening. She will always remember “that feeling and that look on Nick’s face that took all the nervous jitters right out of her.

Words of wisdom

“Even though the “big day” may be yours, it is just as important of a milestone in the lives of your family as it is for you. Be patient and kind with your family. Also brides, be on time! Your husband-to-be will remember that forever.”
